Suwałki Special Economic Zone is located in a convenient area of transport routes, close to the borders with Lithuania, Belarus and Kaliningrad Oblast of Russian Federation. An important transport route of Berlin-Warsaw-Saint Petersburg and Warsaw-Helsinki lines runs through Suwałki. Additionaly, Ełk is situated at the intersection of road and railroad connections which connect Western and Southern Europe with the Baltic States, whereas the European route E67 (overlapping with the national road S8 in Poland) runs through Białystok.
The areas of Suwałki Special Economic Zone are situated in: Suwałki, Ełk, Gołdap, Białystok, Łomża, Małkinia Górna and Grajewo – the latter two are closed subzones, where factories of Pfleiderer MF and Rockwool Polska operate.
The major investors of Suwałki Special Economic Zone are: Pfleiderer MDF Sp. z o.o. (Germany), Rockwool Polska Sp. z o.o. (Denmark), Porta KMI Poland Sp. z o.o., Sp. k. (Poland), Impress Decor Polska Sp. z o.o. (Austria), Malow Sp. z o.o. (Poland). About 80 Polish and international investors operate in Suwałki SEZ and their investment expenditure is approx. 2 bn PLN.
