24 new investment projects in the Katowice SEZ

24 new investment projects with a total value of over PLN 1.6 billion were announced by investors in the Katowice Special Economic Zone in the first half of the year.

In early 2017, the Katowice SEZ predicted that 25 projects worth a total of PLN 1 billion would be launched this year, bringing over one thousand new jobs. It is already evident that these estimates will be substantially exceeded.

“Already in the second quarter of the year, which started really well for us, we were looking forward to meeting this year’s targets and closing 2017 with one of the best results in our history. Also in the past weeks we have seen continuing high activity of entrepreneurs related to planned investment projects,” says Janusz Michałek, the President of the Katowice SEZ.

Half of the permits issued in the first half of the year went to small and medium businesses, with eight Polish companies among them.

“We are particularly pleased with the fact that among the companies receiving permits were many small and medium enterprises, including businesses funded with Polish capital, which have declared a total of over PLN 130 million in investments. Domestic entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the potential for growth provided by the Katowice SEZ. The increasing business potential of Polish companies testifies to the strength of the Polish economy, giving us an optimistic outlook for the future,” says Michałek.

Between January and June 2017, the Katowice SEZ acquired new investment projects with a total declared value of PLN 1.66 billion. In the following weeks, the Katowice SEZ plans to finalise three announced negotiation processes aiming at acquiring new investors.
