Panattoni is completing the final stage
of the development of a production plant for Danfoss Poland – a branch
of the Danish manufacturer of energy-saving components and technology,
including systems for refrigeration and air conditioning, heating, the
motor industry and mobility machinery. The investment is located within
Danfoss’ existing complex in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and due to its
efficient implementation equipment can easily be relocated to it from
the company’s factory in Denmark. A warehouse facility and 1,000 sqm of
production space are still under construction, with the entire facility
to be completed in November this year.
So far, the developer has
completed 12,000 sqm of the project. As many as 45 production lines are
to be installed over an area of 9,000 sqm, with which Danfoss Poland
will manufacture, among other items, energy-saving industrial and
solenoid refrigeration valves. It is this kind of technology that is
revolutionising the industry, enabling sustainability goals to be
achieved, resources to be conserved (water and energy) and food waste to
be reduced. The office and staff facilities make up 2,300 sqm of the
project, while there is also to be a technical building of 1,300 sqm.
The construction of the new facility has been progressing smoothly despite the pandemic. “Almost the entire construction process has been taking place during each wave of the pandemic, which made it difficult to coordinate the project and the current stricter sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Despite these inconveniences, we have been able to construct the new plant with great efficiency, allowing Danfoss to successfully relocate each of its production lines from Denmark to Poland. Thus the company has been able to maintain the continuity of its production processes. Once again, Panattoni can be relied upon to provide stability in uncertain times,” explains Marek Foryński, the BTS Managing Director of Panattoni.
A building for ambitious environmental goals
Danfoss, like Panattoni, has ambitious climate goals. The Danfoss Group aims to achieve CO2 neutrality for all its business activities as early as 2030. Therefore the developer has designed the new facility in Grodzisk Mazowiecki to operate in line with sustainable development ideals by ensuring that it features a range of environmental solutions.
The investment itself
significantly exceeds WT2021 requirements in terms of the energy
efficiency of the buildings. It will include a heat recovery system
using chilled water units and air compressors, which will allow for the
efficient supply of hot water and the heating of the halls and offices.
In addition, the developer is installing heat pumps and electric boilers
to cover the demand in peak periods. The new Danfoss plant will have
the benefit of recuperation ventilation, while Panattoni has also
designed the roof structure to be suitable for photovoltaic
installations.
The entire plant will be controlled by an advanced building management system (BMS) and will be powered by energy from renewable sources, in line with Danfoss Poland’s policy. Since 2019, the company has been cooperating with a supplier that ensures 98% of its energy is from RES.
The future is here today
In order to prepare its employees in Poland to work in the plant that is under construction, Danfoss is employing the latest technology, which includes tools that can create a model of the entire hall and enable people to take virtual walks around the factory. In addition, HoleLens2 mixed reality (MR) glasses are being used to allow employees in Poland to thoroughly familiarise themselves with machines that are still in Denmark.
The new plant in Grodzisk already has 20 lines in operation, producing items for increasing the efficiency and energy efficiency of a wide variety of industries, such as refrigeration systems for the food industry. By the end of the year, the production of components for reducing water consumption will also be launched. Thanks to the commissioning of the new hall, new jobs have been created for over 200 people, with the full recruitment process to be completed by the end of this year. In total, around 400 people will find employment in Danfoss Poland’s new production hall.
